Ex-West Ham United star Said Benrahma admitted Lyon escaped with a 'robbery' at the weekend and will have to improve against Rangers.
Rangers face the French side in their first home game in the Europa League having got off to a flying start last week in Sweden against Malmo.
Lyon warmed up for the match with a highly fortuitous win at 2-1 Toulouse where they were outplayed for much of the game.
And the Algerian international winger admitted they got out of jail.
He said: "Yes, I accept it was a robbery!
"But the important thing was to win. We need to play better this week against Rangers though.
"We made a lot of changes in the team and there were guys who hadn't played much since the start of the season.
"We have a big squad and have a lot of players who can perform for us.
"It's only the start of the season.

"We're going to find the real Lyon again."
But manager Pierre Sage wasn't satisfied with his side's performance.
He said: "We didn't produce much and we were nowhere near the levels we should be capable of.
"I was even surprised when we scored to be honest.
"But victory is the best fuel and we have the will to go and get a result in Glasgow and then carry it on at home against Nantes."
