Tom Lawrence expressed his joy at helping Rangers secure a vital victory.

The Welshman acknowledged that he could have scored additional goals in the City of Discovery, but his strike ultimately sealed the win at Tannadice.

The 30-year-old commended his teammates for their resilience, highlighting their determination to earn all three points during a challenging away match.

"Big result," the Rangers star told Sky Sports. "It's been a long international break. But look, I thought it was a good performance, we dug in when we needed too and got the three points.

"I should have killed off the game with the chances I had but I am just happy for the lads that we got the three points."

Asked to talk through the decisive goal, Lawrence said: "A little ricochet and I seen the keeper coming out so I just done a little dink. It was nice to get a goal."

John Souttar also spoke to the broadcaster after the final whistle and admitted that Rangers could've made the scoreline a lot more convincing throughout the 90 minutes.

"We probably made it difficult for ourselves second half," the Light Blues centre-back explained.

"In the first half I thought we were good, we were in the ascendancy, we moved it well and we got the attacking players on the ball.

"Second half we didn't do it as much but it is important in games like that away from home that we keep a clean sheet and we know we have the quality who will score goals.

"I think it's something that we have to do, we did it in spells last season, and we need to do it this season as well."

Rangers are five points behind Celtic at this early stage in the league campaign, and Souttar knows there's already little margin for error if his side want to be competitive.

"I think we've got to look forward," he confessed. "We've got a lot of games until the next international break, six or seven, so we've got to go and build momentum.

"We've got to create good habits, get everyone together and start getting wins on board and clean sheets."
