Connor Barron admits he already feels right at home at Rangers after making his first appearances for Philippe Clement’s side this summer.
The midfielder completed a transfer switch to Ibrox from Aberdeen last month and has quickly established himself as an important part of the squad. Barron started the behind-closed-doors draw with Standard Liege on Wednesday before getting another 50 minutes under his belt against Ajax in Wezep.

Boss Clement pinpointed Barron’s performance against the Dutch giants as one of the main positives as a Tom Lawrence free-kick proved to be a consolation in a 2-1 defeat. And the 21-year-old is encouraged by how easily he has adapted to his new surroundings on and off the pitch this term.
“It was brilliant, I really enjoyed the game,” Barron said. “It has been easy to settle in. Coming away with the boys really helps. Since day one I have felt at home here.
“Just getting into the games is great because at this stage you’re just wanting minutes under your belt. It has been a busy week. Pre-season first and foremost is about getting the fitness in. After that it’s about implement the gaffer’s ideas and what he wants. It’s been easy to settle in with the boys.
“The games have helped because it’s been a different level. We’ve played against Hamilton, Standard Liege and now Ajax. We’ve got more big games coming up and it’s about testing ourselves against this kind of opposition.
“It’s been good. It’s always nice to hear that the manager is happy, it’s about me continuing to develop as a player here. I’ve got a lot of work to do, I know that. I need to be that character in the dressing room as well.
“The manager obviously knew what sort of player I was before bringing me in. He thought I was going to be the right fit for Rangers and so did I. You can see on the pitch that I fit right into the team so far and it’s about continuing to build as a team.
“The performances will keep coming. Pre-season in general isn’t about results, we’ll make sure we’re ready for the start of the season. Pre-season is tough but it’s been great so far.”
