Rangers began their preseason with a match against Ajax where they lost 2-1. Following that game Philippe Clement's side played Manchester United on Saturday, July 20, at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, where they lost 2-0.
Clement’s side ended last season with a heart-breaking Hampden defeat as Celtic added the Scottish Cup to their league crown. The break has given Rangers a chance to get that out of their system and all eyes are now on the challenges that lie ahead – including their upcoming Champions League qualifiers.
Jefte, Oscar Cortes and Clinton Nsiala are among the club's new recruits ahead of the new campaign, and Clement will remain active in the market for some time to come. Five established figures departed at the end of their deals and there could be more high-profile exits over the next few weeks. Read on for the rundown on Rangers pre-season – Man Utd, Holland & all you need to know.

Rangers spent the first two weeks of the new campaign being put through their paces in Scotland, before heading to the Netherlands for their preseason training camp.
Given the ongoing refurbishment works in the Copland Stand, there will be no friendly fixtures at Ibrox this time around.

Birmingham City vs Rangers
Date: Wednesday, July 24
Kick-off time: 7.30pm

This fixture will take the title of the ‘Trevor Francis Memorial Match’ as both clubs and sets of supporters pay tribute to a legend of the game. Francis was regarded as one of City’s finest ever players and his passing last year was mourned on both sides of the border.
Rangers will be backed by a vociferous travelling support as the fans gear up for an away day. On the pitch, Rangers will expect to come through the 90 minutes with few issues against a City side that were relegated from the Championship last term.
Clement will know who lies in wait in the Champions League by the time this match comes around. The draw for the third qualifying round, in which Rangers will be seeded, takes place on July 22 as the League Cup winners discover their European fate.
Union Berlin vs Rangers
Date: Saturday, July 27
Kick-off time: 4pm
Stadium: Stadion An der Alten Forsterei (22,012 capacity)
Union announced the visit of Rangers alongside a fixture at home to Real Sociedad. Coming late in pre-season, this will be an indicative outing for Clement as he gears up for the competitive action to start.
Rangers need to hit the ground running this term and the trip to Berlin will put Clement’s side through their paces. Union narrowly avoided relegation from the Bundesliga last term as they finished 15th and ahead of Bochum on goal difference.
With this one more than a month away, supporters will expect to see a handful of new faces on the pitch. Time will tell which established ones are still on the books at Ibrox.
How do I get tickets for Rangers vs Birmingham City and Rangers vs Union Berlin?
Details for the trips to the Midlands and Berlin will be announced in due course.
