Rangers are poised to complete a deal to sign Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron after winning the race for his signature this summer.
The Rangers Review revealed last week that Philippe Clement was eager to add Barron to his squad as he seeks to revamp his ranks ahead of the new campaign.
And it is understood that Rangers have now seen off competition from England and Italy to secure the services of the Scotland Under-21 international on a Bosman switch.

Clement has recruited three players so far this summer as Jefte, Oscar Cortes and Clinton Nsiala have put pen-to-paper at Ibrox. Keeper Liam Kelly is poised to follow suit once he returns from the European Championship and Rangers are also in discussions over a move for Bayern Munich forward Yusuf Kadabayi.
It is Barron who looks like being the fourth man in the door as Rangers attempt to get a deal over the line ahead of their return to pre-season training on Monday.

Clement will put his side through their paces at Auchenhowie for the first fortnight of the new campaign before Rangers travel to Holland for a training camp that is likely to see them play two matches. Friendlies with Manchester United, Birmingham City and Union Berlin have already been confirmed as Clement gears up for the Champions League qualifiers and new domestic term.
The capture of Barron would be another significant boost for Clement as he seeks to overhaul the squad that came up short in the Premiership and suffered an agonising defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Cup final last month.
Jon McLaughlin, Borna Barisic and Kemar Roofe have also left Ibrox as Nils Koppen, the director of football recruitment, has taken the lead on transfer business. The arrival of Nsiala on a long-term deal was the latest piece of the jigsaw and Koppen said: “We are excited to add a talented young player in Clinton to the squad.
“He joins as an exciting talent who we believe can develop and take his next steps under our manager, Philippe Clement, and his staff. We look forward to welcoming Clinton to Glasgow as we continue to shape the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.”
