Allan McGregor insists he was happy to keep 'himself to himself' when asked why he never announced his retirement from football after leaving Rangers.
The veteran goalkeeper departed Ibrox at the end of the 2022/23 season.
He was honoured with a testimonial match against Newcastle United last July, where the one-time Scotland No.1 was afforded the chance to say an emotional goodbye to the fans.
Since then, he's been without a club but has yet to ever address whether he'd hung up his gloves or not.
McGregor recently worked as a pundit for the Scottish Cup final between Rangers and Celtic on Premier Sports.
Now, appearing on the Golf Life YouTube channel with Jimmy Bullard and Tubes of Soccer AM, he admits time has been called on his career.
The trio played the Kittocks course at Fairmont St Andrews.
"It was emotional," he said when asked about his testimonial. "Just going round Ibrox at the end knowing it was the last time you were going to play there.
"All the fans stayed and it was a great send off for my and my family."

Asked if he had officially retired, he responded: "Well, pretty much. I've not played for however many months.
"There was no need for me to officially come out and say I'd retired. I just keep myself to myself."
The Ibrox fans' favourite was then pressed on his plans for the future, and if they included returning to Ibrox in a coaching capacity.
McGregor added: "As a fan? Well, aye, I've been to a few games this season!
"If the question got asked, in terms of coaching, I feel that I want to want to do it, rather than people saying 'you've got the experience, you should do it'.
"That time might come, you know, soon. But I'm just enjoying myself now. I was constantly at it for 20 years."
