Rangers will bank a six-figure Wembley windfall if Glen Kamara can inspire Leeds to promotion back to the Premier League next weekend.
The former Ibrox midfielder is just 90 minutes away from a place in the English top flight after United beat Norwich City 4-0 on Thursday evening. And the Rangers Review understands that leaves the Ibrox board in line for a bonus of nearly £500,000 this season.
Victory in the play-off semi-final second leg has secured a place at Wembley and Daniel Farke's side will discover their opponents when Southampton and West Bromwich Albion play their return fixture tonight.
Kamara has made 48 appearances for club and country this season following his £5million exit from Ibrox last summer. As part of that deal, Rangers are entitled to a bonus payment should Leeds secure promotion this term.
Leeds finished third in the second tier this term as Leicester City were crowned champions and Ipswich Town clinched automatic promotion. The play-off final is often billed as the most lucrative fixture in the game and Rangers now have their own reason to tune in to the action from Wembley a week on Sunday.
"When I watch the game back at home on the sofa I'll enjoy it," Farke said after a comfortable Elland Road win that Kamara played the full 90 minutes of. "During the game I was just focused on making the right decisions. But the team were brilliant, and a bit more brutal and clinical in front of goal to finish the game. In the last seasons I spent in this league I was promoted twice. Right now I'm in the play-off final.
"If someone had told us we'd get to Wembley and one game away from the Premier League back at the start of September, I'd have said no chance. But right now we have that chance. Well done to the boys. It was one of the most complete performances of the season against a really good side.
"We were up early and they tried everything to come back at us. But we made sure we came back in with the clean sheet. It wasn't a perfect evening, sometimes we were a bit over-excited in possession and in our emotions, because we have a pretty young side. It was a great night for us. But there is more to come and I'm already focused on the next task."
