Rangers hold the current record for most Scottish Premiership titles won, with 55 league championship wins to their name since their inception in 1872.

The Scottish Premiership is the top tier of the Scottish Professional Football League and generally runs for 38 games per season. First formed as the Scottish Football League in 1890, Scotland's flagship football tier has been renamed several times, having been known simply as the Scottish Premier League between 1998 and 2013. Again, with its 55 titles, Rangers have won more Scottish league titles than any other club; with Celtic in second with 53, and Aberdeen after that with four titles.

Contested by 12 teams each year (since 2000; 10 teams prior), a typical Scottish Premiership season runs for 38 games, with the league splitting into two separate halves after 33 games. At this point, the top six teams play their remaining fixtures against each other, with the same set-up applied to the bottom six.
