Kilmarnock have poked fun at Hearts over their gripes with Rangers following last weekend's dressing room fiasco at Tynecastle.

The Sky Sports Cup final made the headlines for reasons other than the football, with Rangers Women running out 4-1 winners against Partick Thistle.

After the match, it became apparent that Rangers branding had been used to deface the Hearts crest in the centre of the floorspace in the home changing room in Gorgie.

The Jambos released a statement demanding answers from both the SWPL and Rangers over the matter, with fans of the Edinburgh club furious over the incident. 

Now, after Killie secured a deserved 1-1 draw at Tynecastle following Marley Watkins' goal-of-the-season contender, they have taken to social media with a cheeky take on the drama.

A short clip shows Killie's kitman rolling up a rug on the away dressing room floor, with the club's badge on the mat.

Accompanying the video, the post simply reads: "Top six and up the road."

As stated, the Ayrshire side have confirmed their status as a top-six club. They join today's opponents, as well as Rangers and Celtic in the nailed-on top half of the table teams. St Mirren, Dundee and Hibernian will battle it out for the remaining slots.

It's a terrific achievement by Derek McInnes and his side considering this time two years ago their promotion from the Championship was not yet sealed.

“I’m very much a happy man, to do it with two games to spare is testament to so much good work within the club, particularly from the players, the staff, the board,” said the Killie boss. “The club was in a poor place three years ago, we came in just over two years ago as a Championship team and managed to get out at the first attempt.

“This time last year we were still punching, fighting and scrapping to try and make sure we stayed in the league. A lot of changes in the summer and we’ve managed to deliver a top-six finish, which is terrific.

“A response was needed at half-time, we passed up a couple of really good chances in the first half,” said McInnes. “But I thought we were terrific in the second half.”
