Ryan Kent has been handed a post-Rangers reality check by being dropped from the Fenerbahce squad.

The former Ibrox winger was not included in the matchday squad for the 1-0 win over Ankaraguru last weekend.

Instead, he was dropped entirely by manager Ismail Kartal for the fixture.

The Fenerbahce boss then held talks with Kent over his role at the club after signing over the summer.

Kartal insists Kent will regain his spot in the team as he cited "tactical purposes" as the reason for the winger missing the match.

Asked what he told Kent after the shock drop from the matchday squad, Kartal revealed to FotoMac: "I did not include you in the squad for tactical purposes.

"I said this that day as well. I say it again. Other names will not be in the squad one day.

"Don't be demoralized, keep working. As long as you work like this, you will get the jersey."

Kent has played four times for Fenerbahce since his move to Turkey from Glasgow this summer.

However, his game time has only amounted to 199 minutes so far - with just one appearance in the league.

He played on the opening day against Gaziantep in a 2-1 win but was on the bench against Samsunspor and not included in the squad against Ankaragucu.

He has registered one goal and one assist in three outings in Europa Conference League qualifying for Fenerbahce.

He played three of the six matches for his club in the competition as the side advanced to the group stage.
