Reports suggesting Rangers B team coach David McCallum is to be replaced by first team coach Harry Watling are inaccurate.

Sources within the club have comprehensively shot down the notion such a move, which would effectively represent a demotion, could take place.

33-year-old Watling is widely regarded as a coaching star in the making and has been responsible for a spectacular upswing in Rangers output from set-pieces since arriving at the club.

He's a key member of Michael Beale's backroom staff and will not be moving to take the reins of a Lowland League side.

Watling was interviewed about the impact of Todd Cantwell at the Ibrox club, praising what he's brought to the table since arriving from Norwich in January.

Speaking to Rangers TV, Watling said: "I think he really gets it. Since he has come in he has definitely raised the energy levels.

"You see how he plays the game, he plays with a real purpose, takes the ball anywhere on the pitch, shows a real bravery which I think for a club as big as ours that's actually quite difficult to do.

"I think he really harnesses that expectation that the fans and the staff and everyone at the club will put on him to be the player that wants to take the ball in these big moments.

"I am really happy for him, and now he is starting to convert those numbers that we speak about with him every day."
