Barry Ferguson admits he fears that Jack Butland may depart Rangers this summer.
The former Ibrox captain doesn't want to see the former England No.1 going anywhere in the close season.
However, the ex-Scotland international insists it would be naive to think there won't be interested parties in the Premier League.
The goalkeeper has been a tremendous success in Glasgow since his arrival from Crystal Palace last summer.
His form has been so impressive that Nottingham Forest enquired to sign him during the January transfer window.
Butland is under contract until the summer of 2027, so any potential suitor would need to stump up the cash Rangers want.
But with a squad clearout required this summer under Philippe Clement, Ferguson has worries that the easiest way to help fund such a recruitment drive would be to sell Butland. He told GO Radio: "He's the concern for me.

"Now, Jack Butland's come up here and you saw him again on Saturday. He's a phenomenal goalkeeper. But he is Rangers' prize asset. He's the one that's worth the most money.
"I'm sure there are clubs down in England that would take Jack Butland in a minute because he's come back up here and shown it. He's played the full season, virtually every single game and he's been Rangers' best player by a country mile.
"And that is a major concern for me, that Rangers may lose him. But they might need to go and do something like that to bring in money to go and rebuild the squad. I tell you what, he'll be a hard guy to replace because he's top class."
The remaining two Rangers fixtures in the Premiership see Dundee come to town tomorrow evening, before a trip to Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon.
