It has felt like a long summer window - even if in reality it hasn’t been that long at all.
For us Rangers supporters it has seemed that way because we expect a clearout and patience has never really been our thing. There was an expectation of a dozen in and a dozen out this summer.
But these things take time and inevitably the Euros have slowed down transfer business across many clubs. The manager even spoke of his frustration with that fact following the Birmingham City match in midweek.

But maybe, just maybe, things are finally happening. I feel like I have written that before, right enough!
Connor Goldson, Sam Lammers, Jose Cifuentes and Ianis Hagi are all said to be either close to leaving the club for new pastures. You add that to a list that includes Johnly Yfeko, Robby McCrorie, Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, John Lundstram, Jon McLaughlin, Kemar Roofe and that’s a lot of wages saved.
Following the manager’s revelation that Todd Cantwell has asked to leave there will potentially be a dozen names departing. You would imagine Kieran Dowell, Ben Davies, Cyriel Dessers, Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo will all be available for transfer also if the right offer arrives. That’s not to mention the ongoing ‘will he, won’t he’ James Tavernier scenario with his future still up in the air. This could well be the squad restructure we have needed for some time.
Rangers can’t be in a situation where this happens again. We can’t allow the wage bill to be this high with so very little to show for it.
What has happened is very telling. This pre-season has been with players going through the motions and not giving everything. We've witnessed players lacking the real desire to chase or win tackles and the reason for that is we now know many won’t be here.
That's led to reservations over Philippe Clement and some dreadfully poor football. Yes, I too have been concerned but believe it's important to remain patient and let that play out. You can’t moan and scream about a clearout and then wonder why things don’t look that great halfway through the process. We have to see this through before judgment is cast.
Those potential exits have set wheels in motion the other way with Vaclav Cerny arriving from Wolfsburg on a season-long loan yesterday. The right-sided left-footed Czech winger has a decent pedigree from his time playing in the Eredivisie for Ajax and FC Twente. The 26-year-old was well into double figures for assists and goals during his final season in the Netherlands before his move to the Bundesliga last summer.

Why Lawrence Shankland isn't Rangers silver-bullet but transfer stance has changed
Cerny is an exciting player and already knows what it is like to score in Glasgow, having put Celtic to the sword in the Europa League. Let’s hope he is the first of what I remain convinced is at least six more first-team starters who are required.
Others have been linked with a move to Ibrox such as Morgan Whittaker, who may require fees on the high side. But with money now coming in from those departing, perhaps the wheels are beginning to turn with the club able to spend more than previously thought.
If nothing else, it's at least exciting for the support. We have a revolution of sorts, the start of one, but will it be too late for Tynecastle when the league season kicks off a week today?
Because judgment won't wait come the start of the campaign.
