Steven Gerrard has confessed "there will be signings" in the summer as Rangers duo James Tavernier and Connor Goldson continue to be linked with Al-Ettifaq.

Gerrard's side languish sixth in the Saudi Pro League, a whopping 45 points behind leaders, Al- Hilal. Although they did defeat last season's champions, Al-Ittihad 5-0 on Friday.

And with ex-Celtic pair, Jack Hendry and Moussa Dembele, in their ranks, Gerrard hasn't been afraid to recruit players with Scottish football connections.

Rangers manager, Philippe Clement, has maintained that he anticipates the longstanding defenders to remain at Ibrox for the next season.

Despite that, Gerrard, who won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers in 2021 has revealed his intentions for the forthcoming transfer window following a busy first year in the market since relocating to the Middle East - and he certainly wants to make more acquisitions.

"We must do our best during the coming period and improve the team's situation in the remaining rounds," the former Rangers boss said as he urged a strong end to the league campaign.

"Work awaits us to correct the team's situation next summer.

"We will need to do great work. There are players who have gave their best and we will work with them to continue but there will be signings next summer."
