Former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos could be set to finally kickstart his career in Brazil tonight...because of the amazing Santos medical staff after he was expected to be out until next year.

The Colombian hitman has endured a nightmare start to his time at Santos following his return to South America after playing just two matches and failing to score.

He arrived with an injury then quickly picked up a calf injury which was expected to rule him out until January.

But he has returned to full training and has been named in the Santos squad for their match today against Rio de Janeiro giants Fluminese.

Santos are desperately trying to avoid being relegated for the first time in their history and are just two points clear of the relegation zone.

The 27-year-old last has only started one game since the end of May when he played against Palmeiras last month.

His last game for Rangers was in a 2-2 draw with Hearts at Ibrox where he said his farewells to the club after six years in Glasgow.

His last goals came in a double over St Mirren in April, but those were the only goals he scored in the league since the start of February.

Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard has revealed that he's taken note of the lack of penalties Al-Ettifaq have received this season.

The former Rangers boss admits it's something the club is keeping an eye on, with the Saudi side yet to be awarded a spot-kick this term.

The Liverpool and England legend insists his team have warranted numerous penalties this season, which has led to a growing sense of frustration surrounding the topic.

Speaking after Ettifaq's 1-1 draw with Pro League champions Al-Ittihad, Gerrard bemoaned the lack of penalties.
