Rangers captain James Tavernier spoke to TNT Sports following the 2-1 win over Sparta Prague at Ibrox.

Here is everything he had to say.

How important was the win?

It was important to get the three points tonight. It puts us in a stronger position. We've still got two games left and we've got to use Limassol at home with home advantage and try and take the points from that game.

Everything clicked for you in that first half, you had total control.

Yeah, we played really good football. The pressing from the front was really important. Danny rewarded himself with a good press and got his own goal from that. We created really good chances, we're playing really good football at the minute. We were just lacking that third goal in the second half and as the game goes on they're applying a little bit of pressure. We obviously conceded the goal that we're disappointed about but I thought we saw the game out really well and it's three important points.

Is that something the manager wants you to do to press from the first whistle?

Yeah, that's the way he wants us to play. He wants the team fitter and stronger so we can do that for 90 minutes. The boys who came on the pitch proved pivotal and continuing to play the way the manager wants us to play. It's a squad game, we're all going to need everyone this season and it's obviously shown in the game that the lads who came on I thought did a really good job. I thought Ross was going to get his first goal but everyone's really coming together and we're getting stronger and stronger.

It puts you in a strong position to qualify.

Yeah, we've got two tough games and Limassol is a really important one. It's a home game that we know if we play the football we can play at home, we can get the three points and it'll put us in a better position to go to Betis. That's obviously our aim.
