Rangers welcome Sparta Prague to Ibrox tonight on matchday four of their Europa League campaign.

Following another encouraging outing at the weekend, with Philippe Clement's men comfortably seeing off Hearts to reach the Viaplay Cup Final, tonight presents this squad with the opportunity to take a big step forward towards European football after Christmas.

What team will the Belgian opt for? Our writers have their say below.

Joshua Barrie

Clement's options are limited tonight, but he's used to that by now. Leon Balogun and Ridvan Yilmaz are unavailable given they weren't selected in the European squad, Scott Wright is unlikely to start due to a knock picked up at the weekend and the game comes too soon for Nico Raskin or John Souttar.

That leaves few questions, now we have a body of evidence showing the system and style that the new manager has tended to deploy from game to game.

Unlike the return leg, he'll be able to call upon a fit left-back in Borna Barisic and that will ensure there's no repeat of the makeshift back three system witnessed in Prague. Abdallah Sima will, as a consequence, be able to get higher up the pitch and threaten more readily, Danilo will once against be key to the attack's fluidity and Sam Lammers seems certain to keep a place he's held at No.10 ever since change in the dugout.

Todd Cantwell has arguably looked less comfortable playing from the right of late but with options limited and this game likely to be a more open encounter than his recent starts from that side, Clement will hope his No.13 can receive in pockets and combine with teammates, to provide the type of performance he's clearly capable of.

Chris Jack

Clement has previously described his Rangers squad as a puzzle. Once again, there are doubts over how many pieces he can choose from as the Belgian plots a victory over Sparta Prague at Ibrox.

Some players are guaranteed to start on form and the likes of Jack Butland, James Tavernier, John Lundstram and Danilo fall into that category. As has been the case on a few occasions this term, others will start because of a lack of alternatives. With Souttar still sidelined through injury, Ben Davies has to come in at the expense of Balogun as he drops out of the squad. That is the case for Ridvan Yilmaz as well and Borna Barisic will keep his place at left-back.

Ahead of them, Lundstram and Jack will be asked to go again and give Rangers a foothold in the Group C encounter. If they can do that, the four in attack should have enough firepower to clinch a crucial three points.

If there had not been doubts over Scott Wright’s status, Clement would have had a tougher call to make on the right-sided slot. As it stands, Cantwell looks likely to get the nod there and that means that Sam Lammers keeps his place.

The other two berths go to Sima and Danilo. Both can be game-changers and match-winners on a night that Rangers need a Euro hero.
