Aston Villa youngster Rory Wilson has praised Rangers stars Alex Lowry and Leon King after Scotland U21s' recent victory over Malta, calling them both "top class".

The 17-year-old, along with the two Light Blues players, featured as Scott Gemmill's side won both of their Euro 2025 qualifiers at Fir Park.

And Wilson, who came through the Ibrox academy, had nothing but good things to say about both men.

He said: "Leon and Alex are both top class and you can see the quality they both have. Leon just takes everything in his stride.

"He's a top player who handles it brilliantly."

Wilson joined the Premier League side from Rangers last July and has made already made a significant impact across several youth teams.

The striker is now a regular with the Aston Villa U18s and feels the quality of the players he is training with daily has allowed him to develop his game.

“It's a really strong squad we have,” he continued. “I need to keep pushing on and if I get the opportunity, just try my best.

"Obviously, the standard down there is top drawer especially with the first team. There are world class players everywhere.

What you hear about it is what you get. But that's what you want. It's up to me to push myself.

“It took me a bit of time at first to settle in because you are away from your family for the first time.

"But you get used to it. You have to get on with it and take it in your stride."
