Barry Robson disagreed with the decision to award Rangers a late penalty in his side's 1-1 draw at Pittodrie on Sunday.
The Aberdeen boss saw his side surrender a lead late on after Nick Walsh was sent to the VAR monitor. The referee judged that Stefan Gartenmann had fouled Connor Goldson inside his area in the final minute of regulation time.
James Tavernier found the back of the net to share the points. Bojan Miovski had opened the scoring for the home side early on with a composed left-footed finish that beat Jack Butland and found the corner.
Robson was left exasperated with the late refereeing call, suggesting that "it doesn't look good another VAR decision going Rangers’ way in the 90th minute".
“I think there was a lot said at the VAR meeting last week about pulling shirts in boxes,” he said. “I wasn’t at the meeting, I was up here training when they put the meeting down in Glasgow on so it wasn’t great timing.
“But this is what I have heard – the referees all said that not every pull of a shirt inside the penalty box is a penalty.
“Stefan got blocked, I think we can all see that. Obviously, VAR has just not bothered looking at the block, it has just looked at the shirt pull. We are in trouble if this is the way it is going to aren’t we?
“We are in trouble. It just doesn’t look good for me another VAR decision going Rangers’ way in the 90th minute. It doesn’t look good. I don’t know, I am just frustrated.”
Meanwhile, Philippe Clement says Walsh got the call right as he backed VAR to make the game more "honest".
“Of course, there are still some mistakes and some decisions that stay in a grey area. There are a lot of opinions after games. People respond and are fans for one team or another," said the Rangers boss.
“But, in the end, if you are objective, you can only say VAR makes the game more honest than in my days. So I’m a fan of that. Clearly, it’s a penalty. If you pull a shirt like that it’s a penalty. You cannot use your hands in that way.”
